Nyepi is one of the most significant and unique holidays on the island of Bali, which is the Hindu New Year according to the Balinese Saka calendar. Unlike traditional New Year celebrations with fireworks and noisy festivities, Nyepi is dedicated to complete silence, self-reflection and purification
This day symbolises a new stage of life, renewal and spiritual refinement, making it important not only for the locals but also for tourists who witness this unusual phenomenon
On this day, life on the island comes to a standstill: travelling, noise, work and even the use of electricity are forbidden
